One year of writing. Every. Single. Day.
Three full rewrites to get an agent after 43 said no. That was another year.
Two years, three more rewrites, and then said agent and I amicably parted ways. Publishing houses said I was a great writer and my book was hysterical and relatable and they loved it but that no one knew who I was. So...no book deal. BabyFat was on hold. I was told to let it go. That it wasn't meant to be my first book, or maybe any book. But I am not the most reasonable of people. I'm bullheaded. I didn't listen. I waited. Bided my time. Watched and learned. And I kept writing. Eventually, I landed the Latina Magazine #Dimelo advice columnist gig.
Hello Platform an 4.5 million readers.
Fast forward to now: BabyFat launches from Booktrope in 27 days because I don't listen when people tell me to stop trying. And while I am over my head in nerves and craziness, I am also doing my damnedest to keep my shit together. Starting tonight, 9 p.m. EST on Tuesdays, I'll be hosting a weekly #BabyFat #scope chat. My handle is Pauline_Campos because I can't remember much more than my own name right now.
I'll read a bit from the book, talk a bit about the inspirations behind #BabyFat, and answer questions. The cool part? I'm giving away 1 signed copy of the book to one lucky periscope participant each week (so FOUR TOTAL), which will be sent out after launch day! To enter, simply comment during the chat!
And for fun, I'll be sharing one chapter lead in each day, thanks to the fabulous readers that allowed me to include their tweets in #BabyFat! Please share with every.freaking.body because it's your voices that will help my book succeed. See you in about an hour and I promise to try to remember to breathe!
Oh right-that tweet. this is Chapter One brought it you buy The Buttered Side.
You're Welcome, internet.
I'm going to hyperventilate now.
