Noise surrounds us as people hurry past. "Is that on sale?"
"Can I get a Big Mac, please?"
"Mommy, I want...I want... I want..." pleads a whining teen whose mother shoots back with a quick, "God Dammit, if I have to tell you one more time..."
We're in the local Walmart, king of all things convenient with a McDonald's to boot. And in the middle of the chaos, the urgency, I hold my sleeping daughter, content against my beating heart and oblivious to world.
