I'm honored to say I've been asked to speak at the second annual #356feministselfie conference, taking pace in Columbus, Ohio, on November 7. The hashtag and movement are the brainchild of my friend and colleague, Veronica Arreola, in an effort to help participants come to love and accept themselves every day, regardless of how they look.
If you've been on the blog for longer than five minutes, you already know how perfect this is for me, that I have supported the #356feministselfie from the start, and that I have a serious girl-crush on Veronica for her all-around badassery in getting the internet fired up and behind her initiative. Girlfriend was even recognized by Blogher, and quite deservedly so, for her efforts.
Full disclosure? I need your help to get to the conference. Because I hate asking for a handout when I can provide something concrete in return, I have set up a GoFundMe page with artsy reward options to show my appreciation for my supporters. Pay attention to the $100 donation reward: Collage.com has offered 12 of my supporters a 16x20 gallery-wrapped canvas image featuring one of five of my pieces. I can't begin to thank Collage.com enough for their support of my art and speaking career, but also for the support they are showing for the #356feministselfie conference!
Time's short on this one, y'all. I've got two airline tickets to buy, one for me and one for my official travel buddy/personal assistant, little miss Eliana Mercedes, and a hotel room to cover, and we all know that airlines like to hike the prices on tickets as travel dates draw closer. But with reward options starting at just $5 and your support, I think we can make this happen. If you can't support me financially, please know that by sharing my campaign link with your social circles, you are making a difference and helping me to connect with a larger audience, which is always appreciated.
Let's DO this!
